and it is not an experience that I would like to repeat any time soon. I spent time in ICU at BIMC and then cut my holiday short to come home and recuperate. I feel good now but get very tired and shaky. A lot of my local Balinese friends have had it or know someone that has and they swear by guava juice. As for protection they don't seem to use anything. I got bitten on my first day there. I did take Bushmans spray and an electronic gizmo that the chemist gave me but still got bitten. I can't win lotto but I can get the mossie carrying dengue.
