the water has been really rough lately and last night we had the mother of all storms - sheet lightening for about an hour (or more) massive thunder clashes and heavy rain.
two days ago, the harbour master stopped all boats from traveling between bali and lombok. a ferry was dragged 15km or so fully loaded. the ferrys that did get there took around 6 hours.
swells are said to be reaching 6-8m.
i am going to lombok on monday, and i am flying in and out.
your safest bet is to fly over, drive to bangsal, and take a boat to the gilis (if its safe to travel).
