I look at it differently.
5 years ago Qantas via Perth. About 12 hours travelling (including waits) cost $1400+ each.
4 years ago via Singapore 13 hours travelling cost $1800 each.
3, 2, 1 year ago 6 hours travelling (Virgin Blue) varied $720 - $810 each.
Yesterday I booked for our next trip. Again about 6 hours. $ 660 each incl. 23kg luggage for one (plus 2 x 7kg hand baggage).
Reckon I'm well ahead
