I just returned from a 3 week stay at the Masa Inn and it is my favourite hotel.
There are many cheap hotels in this area the dearest would probably be The Kuta Puri but here is a list of other budget hotels.
Masa Inn, La Walon, Kedins Inn, The Ayu Inn, Fat Yogis, The Pesona, Secret Garden Inn plus many other budget back packer style hotels all within a close vicinity...some you can book online like the Masa Inn...some you can just walk up and book...probably your best bet would be to book a few days in one hotel and then check out the others
