Having a look at Wikipedia (AirAsiaX) will highlight the difference.
Basically AirAsiaX is a separate franchised identity ( AirAsia has a 16% stake)sharing booking facilites and aircraft livery with AirAsia( keeping costs down)......Most AirAsia flights use smaller short haul aircraft eg Perth ...AirAsiaX use bigger,long haul aircraft to the East Coast of Oz, and London/Mumbai as examples(soon to be terminated)......My understanding is that the "charter"? that AirAsiaX operates under, requires them to operate in and out of KL without any diversions.eg can't fly KL to GC then back to KL via Bali 9 WOULDN'T THAT BE NICE ;) )
