Well travelled to Bali again for the 6th time but the first time for new years eve. Went with my partner, and another couple. My parents were also there with some family friends.
I'm going to try and break this up into sections so you can read what you want but I mostly relaxed all day reading and getting massages.
Flights: Flew Jetstar, never again. Got delayed by 4 hours going so stuck at the airport and delayed coming home by an hour.
New Years Eve: was spent at White Rose Hotel as one of our friends stayed there and had already paid for their dinner so we went to. Not impressed at all. Ended up on the beach in Legian hopping from place to place. Fireworks were going crazy. Also we got to let off one of the lanterns.
Accommodation:
Stayed at the All Seasons in Legian. I thought the staff at this hotel were excellent as well as the rooms. They were quite large compared to other places I've stayed and thanks to everyone who recommended upgrading the room to get the outdoor shower... absolutely amazing. THe only thing I could fault with this hotel was that the pool was cold (which a lot of people like) and the fact that some other travellers with children were really rude. I don't think I'm being wingy here but come on, 6.30am kids screaming in the pool is very inconsiderate of other guests. I don't think they would have appreciated us coming back at 2am and waking them up. Had a yell at a few people on a couple of occasions because that is just to early.
Food:
Ate at a different restaurant every meal. See below from what I can remember with an estimated cost per person. We always split the bill so some places could be more or less. And all meals included entree, main and quite a few beverages, as well as some desserts.
Lanai, Legian - $200,000
Blue Ocean, Legian - $200,000
O'Cean, Legian - $300,000 this was for an all you can eat seafood buffet, thought it was well worth the money
La Monde II - $100,000 for lunch
Hu'u Bar, Seminyak - $600,000 well worth the $$ for the food was amazing melt in your mouth stuff, excellent if you like steaks and meat
La Sal, Seminyak - $600,000 Spanish restaurant, we ordered every one of the Tapas on the menu and then ordered extras of the ones we liked, great for a social night out and amazing sangria
Kori, Kuta - $500,000 quite expensive for what it was here but still enjoyed it
Some restaurant at Tanah Lot which was the worst meal I have ever had on any trip to Bali, just absolutely foul food and cost $600,000 each what a rip off.
Jimbaran Bay was really expensive, I didn't go but the boys paid $1.2 mill each think they went nuts on the lobster.
Did a cooking course for $250,000 per person at our hotel with the head chef. I really enjoyed this, we cooked Gado Gado, Nasi Gorent, Mie Goreng, Spring Rolls, Chicken Curry, Dardar Gulung and Cassava Cake. I thought it was well worth it since we got to eat everything and there was so much we gave it all to the staff.
Activities:
As it rained quite a bit we didn't do that much stuff the usual Safari Park, Waterbomb Park and White Water Rafting. The boys played golf on 6 occasions through the Raffles club which were brilliant. I would highly recommend going through these guys if you are going to play more than 2 games of golf as you will save a fortune. I played once and actually placed in the comp so was very happy.
Overall, another amazing time with amazing people and can't wait to go back :)
