The horde as we have been named by master 5 is a motley group of one token kiwi male, sister in law, mister 19 knows everything, miss moody going on 17 and us.
Day 6 and we have booked Bali bike with the wonderful wayan. This was our 3rd tour with this company and can highly recommend them - yes we found out about them on this forum! Cost was 450,000 per person master 5 in child seat was 150,000.
I had booked the day before and gave the horde the bad news 7 am start. Not too happy about that as they all love a sleep in. So at 6.45 I did the ring around and yes, everyone was still fast asleep, at 7pm on the dot the phone rings and sure enough the transport was on time. The horde emerged from their various rooms looking like they had partied all night, rather than the 10.30 bed time that was reality.
We piled in the van and confirmed we were the only group, so spread out a bit and by the time we got to sunset rd 5 of them had nodded off.
I get a bit car sick so popped a tablet before the trip I can enjoy the day not being green.I love watching the balinese going about their business early in the mornings so the time flew and we arrived at the coffee plantation.
I love the lemon grass tea so took the opportunity to stock up on a few boxes to take home, mr 19 had the poo poo coffee as our guide Nyoman called it. Connoisseur that he is remarked that it would be better filtered. I thought the Luwak had already done that! 80,000 for the various teas and 100,000 for the coffee.
Got back in the van and headed to the restaurant overlooking the volcano( will have to climb it one of these years but the 3 am start and being unfit hold me back.
The toilet was good by Bali standards and had paper a blessing for our Bali newbies.still wondering why the stairs are so big.
Back in the van, everyone is now wide awake, I am hoping that master 5 will fit in the bike seat considering he is half kiwi and the size of the average 8 year old, otherwise he will be in the van. We arrive at the bikes and he does fit, he is long and thin so all good. Poor thing sat behind his dad the whole way and couldn't see much at all.
The highlight of the trip was going to the school, we had not done that before. the children were excited to see us and amazed at how old master 5 was. They posed for photos and I think it would have taken some time to calm them down once we left
We love saying hello to the kids as we ride by and giving them high fives.
The trip was mainly down hill with 3 hills that's fitter me could have easily ridden up. The weather was sunny so by noon it was getting a bit hot so the ice cold water was well received.
Once we finished we had a beautiful lunch at wayans family compound. His wife prepares the buffet style meal, of sate, smoked chilken and duck, tofu, bean curd, and gadu gadu followed by some fruit, this is another highlight. Once we arrived it started to pour so great timing, but we could not have the tour of the Balinese style of housing which was a shame for the rookies.
After lunch we packed back in the car and the next minute we were at the kuta round about on sunset!
We dodged the traffic around kuta and after a while arrived back at our hotel for a shower a swim then dinner.
It's now 930 am and everyone is still asleep, so I am having a peaceful breaky enjoying watching the Bali world go by
