I've stayed there four times and I'll be there on Wednesday night and again in September. Ellie's is a great base if you are planning day trips, its close to Geger Beach but Ellie's is not close to anything else (except the Ithon supermarket which a trip on it's own!). If you are comfortable staying in a suburban back street somewhere between Jimbaran and Nusa Dua, enjoy the most wonderfully simple breakfast and fascinating discussions (with David, Caroline the managers and the amazing Made, Komang et al) then Ellie's is for you. Be clear this is a small hotel, 8 rooms, no restaurant (except for breakfast) or room service, it is at the end of a dark suburban Indonesian lane with a few local cranky dogs, a friendly cow and the guy up the road who sells chickens.
Read the Tripadvisor reviews some people hate it others like me can think of nothing better than have breakfast at Ellie's before heading out for the day. It really depends on you.
