Glad to see you're feeling more at ease about things. Honestly though, if people didn't feel safe in Bali, there wouldn't be so many of us who go back all the time. I'm getting excited about trip number 10 in about 8 weeks time, and will have number 10 in October.
Of course there's risks, as with anywhere in the world. You don't do silly things like walking around waving your millions of freshly exchanged rupiah around, lol. I travel as a solo female and I've never felt unsafe in Bali - but I use the same precautions as I do at home... I don't wander down dark alleys on my own, or on the beach at night etc. But I also don't lock myself in the hotel. I just keep aware of my surrounds and have always had a great time.
