Not sure what you mean - why else would someone praise it for and I'm sure they're not going to if it was terrible, same as any other hotel they've stayed at. BTW, I gather you must have stayed there at some point to think it is a dump, maybe a while ago since I know you're a fan of the MI from what I've read on here : )
I stayed there in Feb for a few nights by myself and thought it was great! A superior room, steps from the pool. Yes it was a basic room but for $45 I wasn't expecting much! Lovely pool area and honestly the friendliest staff I've met at a hotel.
Haven't been back as the room is not as suitable for 2A/2C and at double the price I would definitely reconsider.
Each to their own opinion of course! but I thought dump was a bit of a stretch.
I certainly 'praised' it in my JBR in Feb cause a had a great stay there and as a female travelling alone they made my trip very comfortable.
As I said, I'm definitely not having a go at you just stating my experience : )
