I don't think it is the fact that people are surprised about the rain, but I think it is more that this year there seems to be a lot more than normal. Of course we expect rain. This was my 3rd time at this time of year, and the previous 2 trips had no constant rain like this time. I was there for 2 weeks from 24 December. We had some sunny days but mostly rain.
I didn't expect it because it had never been like it before in my experience. Just because i was surprised with the amount of rain does not mean I want to try another destination, but would try hard to come back at another time of year, which not everyone can do. Anyway, back again in August for 8 weeks and looking forward to the sunshine.
