...at SBV is a wealth of information on small good value eateries in that area. I'm sure he'll steer you towards Kafe Kesuma for great seafood on the beach and one of my favourites Sale e Pepe for good Italian (they will even deliver to SBV), your host will have a menu on site.
Make sure he takes you on one of his 'cultural' tours of Sanur. It's free and not to be missed.
