We don't wake up until around 8.00am and, you guessed it, it's still raining :-)
Miss 5 was promised a visit to Waterbom or the new Circus waterpark & today is the last opportunity to go :-( I know you get wet anyway, but not only is it raining it's not really that warm either.
I have kept a card up my sleeve for a rainy day though... so after breakfast we head off to Lollipops play centre on Sunset Rd in Seminyak. I pack our bathers as well as Miss 5's (I'm an optimist, I thought the sun might make an appearance!).
They have a special entry price at the moment - RP 80,000 for kids & RP 25,000 for adults. I also have to purchase a pair of socks for Miss 5 as you can't play on the equipment without them.
It is a reasonable set-up - similar to most indoor playgrounds I've seen in Perth, except they have the trampolines with the bungee harnesses above them & there is also an outdoor play area with a flying fox thingy. There is also a water playground outside suitable for younger kids (I'd say best for age 5 and under).
Miss 5 put on her bathers & played for maybe 10 mins before deciding it was too cold though!
They have a cafe area with a small menu. We only ordered some spring rolls - they were surprisingly good & came with a fresh sambal.
The power went out for about 45 mins while we were there which meant the big blow up slide thing & the electronic games weren't working but it wasn't really an issue - the kids found ways to keep themselves amused. We spent about 3.5 hours there & Miss 5 was quite worn out at the end of it - mission accomplished!!
We jumped into a taxi & intended heading back to the hotel, dropping me off at Discovery along the way but the traffic was horrendous. We got just near Bali Bakery & hit a huge traffic jam & the taxi driver told us "sorry I going turn around, you get out here". What the?? He tells hubby that he's very hungry & wants to get to home at Canggu for some lunch LOL. We decide it's not a bad option ourselves, so we decide to let him go & we have lunch at Bali Bakery & wait for the traffic to clear a bit.
Miss 5 has calamari, hubby a mie goreng & I have a chicken salad sandwich. Miss 5 also has an iced cookie and I have a pot of tea & a "fruit omelette" which is a round piece of sponge folded in half & filled with custard, cream & fruit. I always feel like I'm in another place entirely when there - it definitely does not feel like Bali but it's a nice restaurant just the same. The salad bar looked great & I wish I'd opted for that - RP 55,000 incl. soup, fresh breads & rolls plus the salad bar.
The traffic has cleared so we head back to Tuban & I get dropped off at Discovery for what will be my last shopping expedition. I'm oddly disinterested in buying anything though! I have a look around for a couple of hours but don't buy a thing. There are some very nice homewares up on the top level - the house/home dept of Centro. They have the silver tree I bought for RP 178,000. You've got to love Bali - the same tree was RP 330,000 in Sogo! If it was earlier in the trip I think I would've spent some serious money there - and I wouldn't have bothered going to Biarritz either.
I have to be back at the hotel by 6.00pm to meet our friend Johnny in the lobby, he's coming to dinner with us on our last night.
Once Johnny arrives, I ring hubby & tell him to come up to the bar as it's happy hour. The guys play pool & have a couple of beers while I go back to the room & get ready for dinner. We were tossing up whether to go to Kafe Batu Waran or the Boardwalk (both part of Bali Garden). My sister has recommended Batu Waran but Boardwalk was so good we decide to go back there.
We have garlic bread, the Sirloin steak, braised Lamb shank & the penne with Lamb, mushroom & red wine ragout. Miss 5 has a toasted sandwich. We had a couple of beers, a couple of cocktails & 2 glasses of Two Islands Cab Merlot. I then had a coffee & the mango crumble for dessert. The food was excellent again but the service was a bit lacking tonight (to be fair there were 2 large tables - both having birthday celebrations). Total bill was RP 650,000
I seriously need to lie down after dinner! Miss 5 has fallen asleep on Dad's lap & it is P'ing down with rain. We have to walk through the hotel back up to the street to get a taxi - poor Dad lugging Miss 5's dead weight & holding an umbrella at the same time LOL.
Back to the Risata we go, through the flooded roads. There is a lot of hilarity on the way - the taxi driver keeps telling us how he has no brakes after going through the flooding & he squeals and screams every time he thinks he might need to use them! He is a real character. We manage to arrive in one piece & give Johnny our unused food & drink plus some gifts for his 2 kids and say our goodbyes.
I lie in bed listening to the pouring rain & think about how I'll spend my last day in Bali...
