Thanks to everyone for their contributions to this forum, they have all been very handy over the past couple of weeks as I prepared for my long awaited trip to Seminyak, Bali - and now I'm here, woohoo! :)
Following on from Stephjoy's great posts recently I thought I would jot down a few notes.
- virgin blue flight out from Perth was smooth, although we felt a bit stupid after having originally paid a bit extra to go with a 12.30pm flight only to have that flight delayed to 7.35pm a few weeks before we left. Annoying as we lose the first night here but oh well.
- VOAs at Bali airport seem to be different to how I remember them. I remember queuing up and paying the US$25 at the desks in the centre of the room. Now you queue up once and pay at little booths along the side of the room, and then queue up again at the old desks in the centre of the room. Made it a bit slower but no big deal.
- prepaid taxi to Breezes in Seminyak cost 70k. The taxi driver then took us about 300m to his taxi. There is a new (to me, at least) structure that had some porters and drivers and whatnot waiting around in it, but there were plenty of ramps and well built steps so I don't see why it would be an issue for elderly people. We went the prepaid taxi option though so not sure what the walk is like for people with prearranged transfers.
- Breezes is really nice. I came here before in 2009 and it looks like they might have upgraded the facilities since then. They have done away with the spin the wheel happy hour, which is a tragedy, but improved the wireless Internet so that is good. Wasn't thrilled at the cleaning staff throwing away out little Internet login-details slip, but it's not expensive so no big deal really. They have a special thing on for new years which was built into the price of the rooms, so we are all a bit curious to see how that will go :)
Will hopefully remember todo another HNR while here - if anyone has any queries (such as the airport walk stuff) let me know and I will reply if I can.
Similarly, if anyone has any suggestions of things to do or places to go that are near the Breezes in Seminyak please let me know. We spent most of our time around a pool last time we were here and want to explore a bit more this time :)
