Superglue any zip openings that you don't use. Use cableties or tampertells on zips and locks. Do not wrap suitcases in plastic, Bali doesn't need anymore plastic and you look like a loser going through the airport with it!
Remember to weigh your bag empty, if it's more than 2 kilos get something lighter. Use soft material, nylon or canvas bags, use plastic bin liners in bag to protect your gear, as the other poster states use a strap around the outside helps to keep it altogether and identify your bag.
Use the hotel safe or security boxes when in Bali.
