We booked single journeys. Printed out tickets to and kept them separate from printed return tickets.
Went to Perth airport with printout. Handed the printout and no problems. Did the same coming home. No problems. We did not pay extra to select seats or do the online thing.
It is already on their computer just weighing luggage and allocating seats. We moved in the Que quick. Will do same again.
When AA send confirmation it is printed in PDF Format. As long as the copy you hand over has your booking number.
