our kids are 4 & 7 and we take $3k spending money (this is what we are planning on taking in Feb too). I also have around $500 on my credit card and use this at Matahari, resort/hotel restaurants if we are not staying there and other bigger places that I am comfortable using my credit card (even though its a debit card). My husband also has approx $500 on his credit card to use if needed.
We have never overspent and usually come home with some money left!
