We visited Bali in November and stayed in the Anantara, Seminyak. Beautiful Resort, Highly recommended! While we were there we ate at Chez Gado Gado (full report on trip advisor) re-visted after quite a few years and still brilliant! Also ate at Rumours - Cheap & Good, Metis - beautiful & quite reasonable if you drink before you go..Sarong - really lovely! Also had Dining by Design in the Anantara in the Penthouse - what a beautiful experience for around $120 for both of us. Also went to Echo Beach on a Sunday Night and was lucky enough to has my photo taken with Paris Hilton!
Did the Dolphin Park (would recommend it to everyone - book way ahead!)
Also bought a house full of furniture from Ubud (have done this before, but are building a new house and would like to make it a Bali home) The driver takes you to wherever you would like to go (or you can use your own driver) and you pick out what you would like and give him the receipts and he goes and collects it all at the end of the trip and takes it to his shop in Kuta,(Harry is his name) packs it carefully and sends it to his friend in Adelaide - then you collect the furniture from his friend in Adelaide and you can send it to Adelaide in your own full container or just wait for a container you can share with someone else (we did this)
We bought 3 king size beds, a chunky 12 seat dining table (rustic looking half a tree type) another square table which seats eight 2 rocking chairs 6 side tables, one of those carved Bali Doors with frame a HUGE day bed and 2 pool loungers, a desk, thatched lanterns, a coffee table and a chaise all with cushions and all in teak wood. We also bought some beautiful sculptures and art work and some things from Harry's shop - a beautiful chess table on legs (with Balinese chess pieces and classic pieces) a carving of an old man holding a basket over a fighting cock (all carved from a single block of wood) and a huge moniter lizard ( Hmmm - where am I going to put that!) We are so happy to have managed to buy all the things to make our home Balinese style and I know there are lots of thing people would love to buy that are just too bing to bring home (I bought 5 sets of those beautiful food covers all hand decorated with little flowers - also put into the container. I'm happy to give you the details of how to do it if you email me klodge@internode.on.net We are planning to visit Bali again this year and pick out some new places to go - we try to not visit the same restaurants too often.
