I was awake early again - despite being awake for quite a while during the night. There was a huge downpour & the sound of the rain on the roof was deafening!
After breakfast I head to the massage hut by the pool to be scrubbed within an inch of my life. I'm sure she took off at least a couple of layers of skin with what felt like sandpaper LOL. It smelt great though & I have skin as smooth as a baby's bottom.
I had arranged for a tailor/dressmaker to come to the hotel at 10.00am so we just hang by the pool waiting for her to arrive. An hour and AU $300 later, I have arranged for 2 dresses for Miss 5, 2 dresses for me, 2 pairs of linen shorts and alterations to 2 dresses & a pair of shorts. The prices have increased a LOT since the last time I used Cintya & Lia. Sad to say that this is probably the last time I'll use their service, unless it's for something special, as I could buy most of what I'm having made for the same cost or less.
When Lia has left we get ready to head off to Serangan and the Dolphin Lodge. I am excited! Our driver for the pickup is running a bit late & I was starting to get worried, but he arrives at 12.30 and 20 mins later we are sitting down with a welcome drink and signing our disclaimers. We head out along the jetty to where our boat is waiting & that's when the trouble starts.... Miss 5 gets hysterical due to the floating jetty "Mummy I'm going to fall in, Mummy heeeelp me, Mummy I want to go back, I want to go baaaaack, Muuuummy!!!" All accompanied by tears and wails of dismay. I wasn't too keen on that rocking & rolling jetty myself I can tell you so I could see where she was coming from! The hysterics continued once we got on the boat but as soon as we got moving she was fine.
I am so glad that we decided to try our luck out there in person the other day to get a booking! It was a fantastic experience & one we'll all remember for a long time. I highly recommend it (as do so many others). My 15 year old stepdaughter is going to be green with envy when she sees the photos (poor thing, she was already regretting her decision not to come with us to Bali!). I loved how Jasmine would close her eye (she only had one) with pleasure when she had her belly rubbed or massaged. She was being uncooperative & rolling onto her back for more rubs when she wasn't supposed to be which frustrated the trainer but I was happy to oblige her :-)
We got back to the hotel just after 3.00pm & I decide to walk up to the Pantry opposite Hardy's for some fruit & mint, and to pick up some Bintangs as our friend Johnny (from the Coffee Shop in Legian) is coming at 5.00pm for drinks & dinner. The Pantry sells organic produce - so cheap & fresh. I bought some cavendish bananas, a bag of mint & a dozen limes for RP 20,000. I grabbed a couple of cold Bintangs for Johnny & headed back. I'd only just walked in & put the beers in the fridge when my phone rang - it was Johnny who was outside the Trophy bar, waiting for me to come & bring him to the hotel. Out I go again!
I made myself a Pineapple Roska - lime, sugar & mint muddled in a plastic shaker, add some ice, vodka & Bali Moon pineapple liqueur and shake. I add a dash of soda water to my glass but they still have quite a kick!
I asked Johnny what he wanted to eat for dinner - "Aussie food" was his reply! How about European food instead I said. We decide to go to the Beach Cafe as it's my favourite & our last night in Sanur. Plus Johnny can have the meat main tasting plate - he's adventurous with food & likes to try different things.
We had a beef carpaccio starter (highly recommended!), the tasting plate, a lobster salad, grilled chicken with creamy sauce, a tropical creme brulee, 3 cocktails, a juice, a water & a small Bintang. Total bill was RP 630,000. All the meals were delicious as usual, but that beef carpaccio was melt in the mouth & the dressing was just as good.
I was feeling the effects of the lack of sleep plus 3 vodka cocktails & am ready for bed by 9.30pm. Miss 5 is already asleep in the stroller & Johnny has a 6.00am start in the morning so we call it a night. I was out like a light the minute my head hit the pillow! The next day will be our last in Sanur, we'll be heading over to the Novotel at Nusa Dua after lunch.
It will be nice to explore some new surroundings, but at the price we've paid for our accommodation I don't think I'll be able to bring myself to leave the hotel LOL.
