I think getting dropped of at or along Gang Bedugal and walking past the town houses and SGI may be the way to go. Think that is what the other poster was on about. A couple of years ago we had difficulty even walking down Poppies 1, especially that narrow end, because the motorbikes were like a log jam. Some people who came back a couple of hours after us had to climb over motorbikes (literally) in order to get up from the beach end even.
Now I know this will be no problem for the Divine Mrs H. who will hurdle over them like a gazelle on steroids with her suitcase on her head but I don't think she could get up enough momentum with your bag on her head as well.....
