The authorities here released a new design 100,000 rupiah note earlier this month. They have a row of dots down the side of the note and two clear circles near the bottom of the note.
Money changers and banks were aware of this release but many stall and shop owners refused to accept them.
The release would have been around the same time your daughter was given notes that were not accepted by the shop keepers. Three days after the incident with your daughter a similar thing happened to me in Sanur, however the notes were in fact genuine.
