My 22yo son was due to fly to Bali in Sept with his girlfriend for a celebration.
After packing his suitcase he started looking for his passport, couldn't find it anywhere.
Tore the house apart looking for it, to no avail.
Next morning he had to drive his crying girlfriend to the airport and put her on the plane without him.
The time it would have taken to replace the lost passport he would've had only a couple of nights in Bali, so he decided not to bother.
He was gutted obviously but learned a valuable lesson, as you have.
It least you're only going to lose a few days and not the whole holiday.
No doubt this'll be your worst Xmas ever, so I'm feeling for you.
