that other people who are in the same boat are all trying to get their passports issued so they can get on a plane before Christmas too. I am going to go into the passport office at Perth tomorrow morning to see if there is any chance of getting an appointment earlier than Thurs arvo (but I'm not too optimistic - I imagine it is crazy times in that office right now).
It is a hard lesson to learn - I have only ever spent 1 night away from my little girl and now it will be a whole 8 days before I see her again. Any other time I would just suck it up & put it down to experience but I am devestated to be apart on Christmas day :-(
