We've had ours for 8 years now. Became good friends with the family.
Picks us up at the airport each time. Small esky icy cold Bintang soft drinks water. He will quite often eat with us if we are out and about. Help with translation. Mostly we have a good laugh. I go alone with him to places, hubby and him do mens shopping things together ( 5 mins to buy a shirt) or we all go together.
Other days he may want a chat and local food elsewhere with some friends, have a siesta in his car if had other customers to very late at night. We have a good comfortable relationship so can express exactly what each wants to do.
First up the relationship can be quite business like. Certainly do offer your driver a drink or some lunch but do not be offended at a refusal. He may just want to do his own thing for a time.
You may hire many drivers over a period of time and then meet one you just click with and continue to use. Some can be right "in your face" Our driver has a quieter disposition. It took a few years to find him though.
Make sure you agree on a price, hours and inclusions first up. Also see the actual car before agreement.
