First up, Congratulations to Robin for her win, a win in reality
for the Birthing Clinics, and the rest of the organization.
The US$250,000 will go a long way to helping out those people
less fortunate than others to be able to have a clean and safe
place to have their baby - with trained staff around them.
We have personally been to the Bumi Sehat clinic in Ubud many times,
and take donations in the form of baby packs that Louise makes up,
that they can give to the new mother as a small gift (includes some
baby items and something for mum), along with bottles Pentavite and cash.
As for how the voting was done, yes it was a public vote,
and yes all the people listed had the same chance as anyone else.
You could go to the site, and vote up to 10 times per day.
So while all the people had their own needs, Robin had hers as well,
so it all came down to votes ... which you could say the greater
the need that the voting public saw, the more votes were given.
I don't think anyone should go into any dark place with thinking
this is some kind of grubby unworthy way that someone can win,
it was all well above board, and everyone had the same chance.
I don't think this needs any further dissemination - let us
(the people that love Bali) see it for what it is - a win for
the Indonesian people ... a win for the next generation.
I have attached a link to the CNN site - hope it works.
Regards,
Geoff & Louise
