Back in the day I watched a great deal of sport there in the old non-smoking sports bar. Now I only visit a few times a year for the expensive but good quality bar food.

What strikes me as odd, is the friendliness of all the Bali experts that frequent the place. They may throw you a polite nod and smile or they may decide to join you and give you an education about Bali. Very odd.

I had the experience of visiting friends (who usually stay with us) apartments' there last year, as they were travelling in a large group. Horses for courses but definitely not much better than a motel room in any larger country towns. In fact it felt like some developer had done up some old state housing units.

What strikes me about this place is the air of conceitedness of longer term guests. Not residents, as I have met a couple of old boys who live there year round and couldn't wish to meet nicer blokes.

I really can't put my finger on it but it seems as if the emperor has no clothes. By that I mean guests may have been conned by the ex-timeshare selling manager into 'investing' or staying but they then feel it is their obligation force down everyone else's throats how lucky they are. I don't know who these people are trying to convince but it sure isn't me.

In my opinion it is tacky and low rent with almost a cult like following. And everyone knows what cult members are like, especially the newly converted. They are all experts with a religious like fervour.
