has been around for a while.I posted it up here on BTF. My husband was approached by a very well dressed educated lady who started a conversation with him..same thing..niece going to study in Perth etc. Invited to her home to put the families mind at rest and to chat to uncle etc. We have no idea why he smelled a rat but he did and came to find me and we talked about it. I called the department when I got back home and discovered what the sting was meant to be
They told me it was big in other parts of Asia but not reported in Bali.
I just wish there was a decent govt website to make people aware of scams.
