at Mal Bali Galleria on Sunset Rd (there are 3 optical stores there as Hillary mentioned)

We don't have "extras" cover on our private health insurance so yes it was definitely worthwhile for us. I paid about AU$180 for Guess frames & prescription lenses (this was with a discount card which was given to my husband when he picked up his Ray Ban prescription glasses). Even when we did have extras cover, I always paid a lot more than $180 for frames & lenses as I'm a pretty fussy when it comes to the frames.

Hubby ordered his glasses first & I wasn't going to worry about it as I already had a fairly new pair but when we picked his up they gave us a discount card which was only valid for 3 months I think so I grabbed myself a pair too.

I also bought sunglasses (non-prescription) from one of the other Optik places at the Galleria (Fendi brand, cost me about $230 and have priced them here for over $500)

Timing wise, it can take up to a week for the glasses to be ready so I would place an order early on in your trip to be on the safe side.
