Arrived 11th November for 3 nights at the Sejuk Suites at the Jayakarta residence. We had a 1 bedroom suite which was very clean and spacious. The room is perfect for families as the couch in the lounge can be converted to a double bed to fit 2 children. The main bedroom had a comfy kingsize bed. There is also a kitchen area with cooking facilities. The room over looks the carpark. Excellent value for USD 100. About a 5 minute walk to the Jayakarta's pools etc.
Spent the majority of our stay around the pool as our kids adjusted to the heat. Ate at the Kumala Pantai's Sand restaurant. Pizzas were very good. Also had a good meal at Seaside. Great view, great food. Our last day in Legian took the boys to Water Bom Park. Boys ran themselves ragged and ended up sick the next day. Both had some kind of flu with high temperatures which they eventually got over. I Was a constant roller coaster of them feeling unwell on and off for the rest of the trip. They became very picky eaters and I found it very hard to get food into them from then on which was very stressful. My oldest boy has a peanut allergy. We had no problems with him at all and were able to eat everywhere without him having an allergic reaction.
Next we stayed at Nefatari Exclusive Villas in Ubud for 2 nights. Loved this place. We stayed in the one bedroom villa which is huge with its own private pool and huge outdoor bathroom. It is about a 5 minute drive into Ubud from here, too far to walk. Was a fantastic quiet place for the kids to recover. We payed 138US a night which includes breakfast, free pick up, free softdrinks in your room fridge, free snacks and free transport to Ubud and back on demand. All meals we ordered were very delicious and so cheap. They also provide complimentary afternoon tea. Staff were also fantastic.
Next we stayed at Blue Moon Villa's in Amed. We last stayed here in 2003. We booked the newly built Blue Angel Oceanfront Family suite which is one room. The villa has 180 degree panoramic views of the ocean. Right outside our villa was the infinity pool which was gorgeous. Must say it was a bit of a tight squeeze sharing the room with the two boys but would be very spacious for 2 people. Had great meals and great service here. Kitchen were excellent to deal with to ensure nut free dining which was appreciated. Only down side to this place was lack of tv/dvd, my boys have square eyes. Heaps of great snorkelling spots nearby if you don't mind walking down some steep stairs. Its best to hire your own car or bike while you are here as the hotel charge heaps to transport you anywhere.
Last 3 nights we spent at Kumala Pantai. Great pools and great location, beautiful gardens. Only downside was that my fella got Bali Belly from a room service meal he ordered. It was a bit on the luke warm side when it was delivered. Went straight to the apotek to block up each end and he was back in business the next day.
Went to the butterfly park in Tamanan. Was a quick trip would loved to have stayed longer but my son got over heated an vomitted there.
Great shopping at the Animale factory outlet, massively cheaper than the Seminyak store. High quality garments. Went to Ugadi to stock up on a some homeware, huge selection.
Still love Bali. Might wait until my kids are a bit older before returning. They can't handle the heat.
