I (21) went with boyfriend (22) to paradise for 11 days. Stayed half in Kuta half in Seminyak.
Kuta Seaview: lovely. Rooms were very clean, staff very attentive (almost too attentive at times, on the annoying side). Restaurant & room service was good. Plently of pool chairs etc.
Sun Island Villas (Seminyak): cannot recommend this place enough! Staff are amazing, will stop traffic for you when you need to cross the busy road, always smiling. Had the pool villa, small pool but just enough for a quick dunk, can swim in the larger pool in the centre of all the villas if need be. Villas always amazingly clean. They found a note written to me by my boyfriend and made a heart with the towels on the bed with it in it, haha corny but cute. Great to have your own space. Very reasonable price too for a villa. Will definitely go back there next time!
Traffic: very bad while we were there due to the ASEAN summit (Obama, Gillard etc). Traveling to Jimbaran Bay took twice as long as usual, think there was a bit of road works too. Got worse through Kuta in the second half of the trip due to influx of schoolies.
Restaurants
Kuta
TJ's Mexican: love this place. Great cocktails and food. Matches sandards of Sydney mexican.
Havana Club: our favourite in Kuta. Has such a wide variety, pizza, mexican, cocktails all for a very reasonable price. Staff are great too.
Poppies: only indonesian restaurant we visited. Alright, not as impressed as my last 2 visits. Boyfriend isnt a massive fan of Indonesian food though, so that probably didnt help.
Rosso Vivo: pretty expensive by Bali standards. Good pizzas though not a wide variety.
Ganesha (Jimbaran Bay): probably the best restaurant in Jimbaran that i've been to. Took there by a driver after rock bar. Grill all seafood with bali sauce (like most i presume) but was nice and fresh, got a table right at the front which was nice to watch the sunset
Seminyak
Rio's Bar & Grill: fairly basic foods. Did have Aussie steaks tho which boyfriend was very impressed with. Surprised us with salsa dancers tho which was good!
Ultimo: was feeling a bit under the weather when we visited here so didnt try any extreme options. Set up is amazing tho, had a band out the back (suggest getting a table outside at the back) and fairy lights, was very pretty.
Panaterei (spelling?): greek restaurant but with a great variety of other meals. Got complimentary breads on arrival. Was really surprised because we only went here by walking past.
Also went to,
Rock Bar (Ayana Hotel): so so amazing! Must go when in Bali, the view is breath taking. Cocktails are sydney prices but well worth it. Service is really good too.
Potato Head Beach Club: very good view too. Suggest going there like 4ish as it gets really packed at sunset. Amazing cocktails!
Quad Biking: did it through Paddy Adventure rather than Bali Quad as it was cheaper and the guy recommended it just as much. I wouldn't recommend this for weak people (like myself) as the bikes are quite heavy and difficult to turn sometimes. Boyfriend didnt have much trouble but i struggled quite a bit. Fun though otherwise. Tour guides are very safe & helpful, had to save me from situations a few times, but never came off it luckily! Sorest arms the next day!
Did a lot of shopping in the markets in Poppies 1 & 2 and the main strip in Seminyak. We both liked Somewhere and Lost in Paradise (Jl Raya Seminyak), good young adult clothes cheaper than shops like say General Pants with the same kind of styles.
Think thats about it, if you have any questions please ask!
