We stayed at Risata in April this year and they did the same thing, we told them we had no cc and no spare cash, so they just blocked our room service bill, meaning we had to pay cash for things rather than charge to our room. To be honest, the prices of drinks around the pool were not much different to Oz prices, so didn't bother us too much.
If you like sitting on a balcony, make sure you have a deluxe room as the superior rooms do not have them.
