I have spent a few hours next to a pool where two parents and one child have enjoyed Bali, the parents more than the child.
The parents could not care less. They were smoking and drinking for hours while the child wanted their attention. Having to listen to repeated call, look daddy or look mummy, screamed at its indifferent parents was a nuisance to all. Those who tried to intervene in favour of the child was called ugly names or threatened with physical violence.
Selfish parents, if anything. I did not attack children I was after the parents, so please read again, before the usual name calling. But no matter what, some training goes well with the teaching.
