Sounds like you have got a heap of great advice from everyone here.
It may seem a bit overwhelming but very very quickly it will become second nature.
The only titbits I can add is
1. make freinds with other guests at your hotel and see if you can join them when they go shopping etc so you can be shown some of the many many pitfalls that snag all newbies.
Pump them for info about anything and everything. Ie learn by others mistakes. lol.
2. Give way to the motorcycles riding on the footpaths. The basic vehicle rules is size wins !!
Dont be tempted to get a bike to ride over there unless you ride a bike at home.
You would be amazed at the amount of tourists that have never ridden a bike at home and then think that they magically have bike riding skills in bali.
Getting around by taksi can be a pain in the arse at times so ask any bike rider for transport and for 10,000 or 20,000 Rp they will take you where you want to go.
3. Treat everyone with respect even if sometimes you arnt being treated that way.
There is enuff dropkicks over there already who are disrespectful to all and sundry.
4. At breakfast time you will probably tuck into the omelettes and toast. Quite often the toast is cornbread with a higher fiber content.
You will see the tropical fruit and tuck into that as well. It's yummy.
Then you will go the fruit juice which is basicly pureed fruit with drinkable water added.
Some time later you will get the tummy rumbles and claim that you have Bali belly.
Bulldust!! What you have is a change in diet cos you just consumed more fiber at breakfast than you normally would consume in a week back home.
Doublely true if you are a regular maclaxitives oops macDonalds eater. lol.
I hope some of this is of use to you!
Cheers PD
