The strip between Tuban - Seminyak is just one long vile traffic jam. With so many new huge hotels under construction it will only get worse. Erky perky.
Be sure to get away. My fave trip (which you can spread out over days or do it in one day) is to Pacung Indah for brekky with, on a clear morning if you are early enough, great views of Mt Agung. Then to Candi Kuning Markets (past the Ghost Palace) to buy spices, fresh fruit - esp strawberries, pashminas (Rp50K), vanilla pods, peppercorns etc -bargain HARD.
Then through a natural monkey forest along a VERY scenic road (many pic opportunities) to Munduk. Drive down the windy road to Munduk Village &, if you have time, stay overnight - lots of wonderful walks. The views are spectacular.
Always use antiseptic wipes before eating (I wipe cutlery with them, too). Wear strong mozzie repellent at ALL times.
Be VERY careful at bars. Never take all your cash/cards with you. Use your hotel safe & lock everything of value away. Don't put all your eggs in one basket.
