Keep at least 2 copies of your travel docs and passports in different places in your luggage/room/ back pack. If you are an Aussie. Hit the travel advisory website and fill it in. It will be invaluable should anything go wrong.
Plus....
-Medication for tummy bug. We used Travalan and took it before each meal. Only person that was ill, was the one that did not take it.
- bacterial hand wash/wipes are a must
- never drink the water, not even in restaurants. Only use bottled water.
- if you are heading out for a day of shopping, take a business card or the address of your accomodation. Some drivers have no idea of where some hotel/resorts are.
- expect to be over charged and to pay too much on your fir. st trip. It's a given. Work out a rp converter so that you can quickly calculate the price in your own currency.
- If you take vodka in a water bottle to a restaurant, take it home with you. When you come back to get it, it wont be there..... bugger!!
- If you see a lot of people in a restaurant, it will probably be a goodie and safe to eat at. If you are not sure, talk to others on the streets and where you are staying.
They are the best source of information. Also check BTF
- Don't let your bags out of your sight at any time. When you are at the airport, don't let them our of your grasp. It can cost you to get them back.
- try not to change to much money at the airport.
Hope this helps
