My suggestion would be Hotel Pearl in Double Six. It is well priced quiet and important to me - clean. Run by a very nice french family. I am also in your situation where I normally travel with friends but am just about to head off in December on my own for a bit - I have selected villa Bonsai next to bintang supermarket - I have stayed at Pearl heaps and woulds just like a change.
