Me and my mate went to Bali to celebrate his 50th Birthday, spent 13 nights at the Bali Garden Resort in a superior room facing the front of the hotel and out to the street. It was a nice hotel in pleasant surroundings, 3 big pools with swim up bar which we used almost daily in our first week.Staff at the hotel were very nice , rooms were a little old but kept very clean, towels and sheets were changed daily. We didnt have late check out included so we organised this with the hotel on our last day with no problems and 600,00RP which isnt expensive and at least you can freshen up before heading off to the airport. Found a grouse little pub/restaurant down the road a bit to our left and heading towards Kuta called Melasti, they had happy hour all day with small Bintangs 15,000RP each which was basically the cheapest beer we could find in Bali, most places were charging between 25,000 and 45,000. The rate we got at the old Kodak shop next to Dynasty was between 8900 and 9275 over the whole 13 days which was pretty good we thought. Ate at many places including the boardwalk, Gracie Kellies & Melasti as well as the one out front of the BGBR, all were good in portion size and value for money we thought and we did return to each of those on a couple of occassions. I found that by being 2 blokes walking along by ourselves we were offered more than just a Bintang Singlet, we were offeerd Viagra at least 10 times a day, Hash at least once a day, Sex at least 4 - 5 times per day which was all very new for me having been to Bali 9 times before with my 3 Daughters and the most I was ever offerd was a small bottle of Arak moonshine. Did a couple of day trips 1 to Tahna Lot Temple and 1 day to Sanur which was very quiet and totally enjoyable. Hired my usual reliable driver Malic from out front of the Dynasty, good english and sense of humour, charges about 250,000RP per half day. overall did lots of walking, drinking and eating with a few good belly laughs along the way, looking forward to our next trip.
thanks,
