Hi Tassiemays, Our 11 year old is around 5 foot and the day bed was plenty big enough for both him and his sister. We booked the deluxe family room. We booked the room through the bali friendly website 1,175,000 per night - not including brecky for the children.
We also read that the snorkling is better at the north end of the island however at low tide which is when we happended to be cycling past that area, there was a lot of rocks/reef exposed which you would have to negotiate to get into the sea - at least 50m of reef. Not sure how it would be at high tide. To go snorkling we actually just hired a local boat to take us out - around the gili's which costs around 700,000rp for about 3 - 4 hours.
I've left my email address open if you want me to email some photo's of the room we had at villa Ombak.
We booked our crossing with bluewater express as they had family deal where the children were free. We left from Padang Bai thinking it would be a calmer crossing however all the rough seas occur after Padang Bai.
