If you plan on doing tourist trips in the rural area, then staying in Palmerston about 30mins closer. But if you just want to hang around town don't stay at Palmerston. Not much to do and see in ol Palmo town!!! Nice to visit Litchfield while in town. Some beautiful falls etc. Will you be hiring a car???
