This is a great idea to use an Amed driver as not only is the unemployment rate high here, there has been almost no rain for months, and people are earning very little from their crops.
It is something I have been doing for many years....giving the much needed work to a Local Driver. Reret at Double One Villas is punctual, polite, and has a good car. I pay 400.000 rupiah but it may be 50,000 more from Benoa, and I offer to pay lunch or buy water if need be. Is happy to leave Amed at 6am to pick you up.
Reret usually stops at Candidasa where the restuarant provides his meal and you can eat overlooking the Lotus Pond. If you want to drive straight through he is just as happy. Ask him to stop at the Bat Cave (Goa Lawah) just before Candidasa...a bonus for you journey.
