we're doing the same again this year. To be honest, it felt a little strange & not really like Christmas (but not in a bad way!).

I actually find Christmas quite stressful - all that last minute rushing around, wrapping of presents & shopping for and preparing of special food. Didn't have any of those worries or chores so I suppose that's why it didn't feel like Christmas to me LOL.

Check out the website balieats.com - probably a bit closer to the time you're leaving (late Nov / early Dec) as they publish a list of restaurants by area who were doing special Christmas dinners or lunches. Quite a few places hold dinners on Christmas Eve (as per US and European tradition) but there will be options for lunch or dinner on Christmas Day itself.

If you are staying in or near Kuta, drop into the Bali Bakery (across from Ace Hardware in Kuta) as they do an amazing Christmas display - like a winter wonderland type theme - and they have lots of Christmas themed chocolates etc for sale. My little girl LOVED it.

We have booked to go to brunch on Christmas Day at the St Regis in Nusa Dua as a very special treat (it is pricey but well worth it from all I've heard). Might be worth considering too.
