Jetstar & Frequent Flyer Points

Went with Jetstar in Aug, mainly because of times and also because I am a Qantas Frequent Flyer member.

Just found out I dont get any points for this return flight, which cost over 700 bucks.

Spoke to somebody at their call centre and she was 'rabbiting on' about next time I would have to book a different sort of package???

I booked the hotel & flight through a travel agent, so it wasn't one of these 'Book Now One Way for $179 Deals'.

Could I have travelled on this same flight and got points?
Would the seat have cost more?

Think I will just shop around next time for the cheapest flight - stuff the loyalty!
