I have been going to Bali for the last 15 years and I have to say that this was the worst year ever.
We flew strategic airlines from Brisbane and had a 45 minute stopover in Darwin to refuel, the plane was on the tarmac without airconditioning- and it was so hot. We had originally booked with strategic because it was a direct flight and we were advised later about the stopover for "technical reasons". Arrived in Bali and proceeded to Sinar Bali -which I must say after the first initial shock about the bathroom - we came to love this little hotel. The staff. pool, everything , was perfect and we met lovely guests while we were there.
What horrified me most about this trip was that we had organised a few day trips because we had a friend join us from the UK. We did the dolphins (great), Bali Baik (wonderful) but getting to and from these places on Sunset Road was a nightmare. The traffic is dreadful. To meet our friend who was arriving at 2.45pm on Wednesday afternoon at Denpasar, we left Legian at 2.00pm and did not arrive at the airport until 3.30pm.
We had lots of great dinners- I think the best was at Rumours in Seminyak. We had lots of great times but I think the traffic problem is just getting out of control. I had always had this dream that I would spend my retirement years there but now think it would be worse than spending those years in Melbourne or Sydney.
I went to Dr Rudi dentist and was very impressed with the service. I was in the chair for an hour - clean scale and xrays for 500,000.00

Of course we had a lovely time and I really appreciate all the information I have recieved from you lot over the past 2 years, but I think I have to look for somewhere different now, perhaps vietnam???

Vale, Judith
