We went to the orphanage Yesterday ran by the nuns at Tuka. We had a great visit took basic needs for them and gave a money donation. They gave us a tour of the place ti was really great I had my own guide his name was Benny he had been at the orphanage for 4 months with his brother Bob. He had an Australian father who came from Sydney and a mother from Java they had lived in Kuta but their father died suddenly and I suppose the mother could not afford to care for the boys so they were put into the orphanage. Benny I think was coping better than the brother. The old Nun in charge is really lovely. What I did see what they really needed was sheets and I believe towels and anything to do with schoold like pens, pencils and books and they only have 7 computers so I am sure if anyone has an old laptop they wouldn't certainly not go astray. Definately the money helps with the education side of things. Also with the medical issues. That was a highlight of my visit to different places. The birthing Centre also does't great things. But they are in need of a bigger premises as they have diversified to eye issues and teaching people computer skills as well as help the local people and westerner with medical issues. This is done by doctor giving their time while they are here. They need you to vote on line you can do this 10 times a day till early Dec. This will help them get a grant to do what they need to do. So please vote for them !!!! I hope this has help you.
