I don't know why you are not allowed to buy duty free in Bali and take it into Australia on Jetstar but I do know that you can do it from Singapore with Jetstar as I did this earlier in the year.

Apart from the small cost saving I wonder why people (including me!)want to do it, why not just buy it back in Aus once you have left the plane?

Maybe Jetstar don't let you because people take way too much hand luggage on board and there just isn't enough room in the overhead lockers to accomodate duty free on top of the ridiculous amount of stuff people seem to want to carry as hand luggage?

The other disadvanatage to taking duty free inbound is that if your flight is ever diverted to another city because of fog, (which happened to us in 2009)and you exit the plane, your duty free will be confiscated before you are allowed back on the plane, as it is over 100ml.
