A few years ago we got those calls. Went to The Peninsula & endured the hard sell (& it was pretty heavy). But easy to say no.
Our reward was 2 weeks at timeshare places. We really didn't think they would happen but we got a week at Bali Shangrila in Candi Dasa (lovely place with weird decor for Bali & pleasant English family owners who didn't hassle with the time share thing) and another week later at Jimbaran Hills (don't know if it is still there but it was a great location for husband surfing the Bukit). Times that suited us.
No regrets at all. For $50 for a week for 2 at each place (plus a small daily charge) it was well worth sitting through the original 90 min presentation.
Both places we stayed at were in locations we wouldn't have otherwise have even visited. We have no regrets at all about attending the timeshare presentation. Only took 90 mins & they supplied a driver & lunch but we had our own car.
You just have to be wary & be strong. Husband said pretty early that it was not for us & we still got our 2 X $50 weeks.
When you are at the time share place you are supposed to go through another presentation but they are pretty easy to avoid.
If I had time & I got a call I'd think about a timeshare presentation, especially if I got a $50/week voucher merely for attending at their cost.
