Such sad news.. and how far away we feel when a tragedy happens.. I would suggest an offer of financial help would be more effective than actually coming to Bali.. Balinese funerals are detailed and expensive and it is always a struggle to find large sums of money that is required for the ceremony..
The actual funeral and on going ceremonies provide a great deal of comfort .. and the closeness of family to help during this awful time.
It must also be remembered that death is viewed differenly in Bali... As tragic and as devastating it is , it is gods will and the person is not gone forever just waiting to return at another time ..[i of course am assuming your friend is hindu].
I am sure your friend would appreciate any financial help you could offer... Having very recently experienced a similar event, where my husbands uncle was killed.. finding the money for the many many visitors and more importantly the money for all the ceremonial nessesaties a great burden for all.
I have heard of families borrowing huge sums to cremate their loved ones, and face financial stress for years and years..
So i am sure any help at this time would be a wonderful thing..
