Sometimes the answer is right in front of us but we can't see the forest for the trees. This is also compounded by frustrations. Air Asia has tried hard to cover contingencies on their website - just need to get used to some of the "quirks" like having to remove seat requests, baggage allowance and insurance if you don't require them. Still, it's only from sale of the extras that they are able to keep their prices low so can't blame them for trying! I am a Garuda frequent flyer but apart from the price difference on a flight of just over one hour, as many of my Jakarta/Singapore trips are on same day over/back I can't use Garuda even if I want to as their system will not accept return flights on the same day. With Air Asia, you receive a prompt which you must acknowledge accepting that you really do wish to return on the same day - a good safety net for a careless passenger who doesn't want to do this.
