I too had not booked online before until earlier this year. I will be staying in 3 different locations. I booked 2 directly with the hotel as was alot cheaper than Agoda etc however the 3rd lot of accomodation was booked through Asia Rooms who were fantastic to deal with.
Remember some of the booking sites require some form of payment up front. Make sure you thoroughly read everything. I think I have read somewhere that some booking sites dont advise you of the taxes until the very end.
