Back home after 2.5 weeks in beautiful Bali-how depressing when your holiday is over!!
Had booked GRAND KUMALA after staying there previous 2 years.Well i am sorry to say, but after 3 nights I could bear it no longer- the president suite (OUR ROOM) /family room block is probably the most affected by the construction going on next door- constant banging, electric tools going non stop from 8am till 10pm literally 3 metres from our wall/balcony- then chatter and laughter from the workers who seem to live on site. I could not stand it and even by the pool the noise was unbearable-the service seems to have gone down hill as well- 2other families moved out while we were there also, so it is definately affecting business at the hotel.

We moved across the road up the alley to Villa Pisang mas- lovely grounds, nice pool- we stayed in villa D for $130 night sleeping 4 people in 2 enormous rooms, with outdoor kitchen and another outdoor sitting area. Would definately recommend it.

Spent 2 nights on beautiful Lembongan island once again at reef bungalows $55 per room for 2 people and using their boat only $35 return to sanur-love this place perched on the cliff overlooking the surf and seaweed farms.Zipped around on scooters discovering lovely area at the mangrove end with new huts, bar, sun beds. Took a local boat out for a snorkel 5 minutes away for 40,000 rph-superb!
Ate at the old 'scallywags'- now called 'beachhut?' Same owners and still a lovely spot with pick up available.
Also spent a night in ubud at tegalsari- a lovely peaceful resort however Ubud was an absolute madhouse and i will not return. It is not for me! Traffic jams, a billion buses and people everywhere!! Did the famous Teggalalang strip- amazing homewares and sooo cheap- stuff i didnt see anywhere else!Could have gone crazy!!
Visited the orphanage in Gianyar for the disabled kids-took 80 kg of clothes,toys,toiletries-and bought rice, noodles, oil, snacks, etc- the kids delightful and happy to see us-a few children hearing impaired and some with other disabilities- overall this orphanage seemed in better shape and far better equipped than previous ones i had been to, but still im always glad to go and brighten up their day!
2 weeksin legian-the usual shopping, chilling on the beach with our friend ozzie, restaurants- my favourite still has to be NIRVANA, eating ,drinking, chatting with the locals, etc
Thanks to all for help, advice, sim cards, etc
Until next time xxx
